According to the latest news, Today the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the UDAN Scheme in Shimla. The scheme is launched with an aim ‘Uda Desh Ka Aam Naagrik’ and boost regional connectivity while providing low-cost air tickets to the customers.
Under the scheme, the government will select underserved and unserved airports across the country. Besides, the Centre and state governments will subside the airfares.
The cost of the ticket is expected to start from Rs 2,000 and the airfare for a 1-hour journey of appx 500 km on a fixed wing aircraft or for a 30-minute journey on a helicopter would be capped at Rs 2,500.
Prime Minister Modi has inaugurated the first flight from Shimla-Delhi under Udan Scheme. The government offers ticket at the starting price of Rs. 2,036.
This is the first visit of Prime Minister in Shimla. He had visited the capital of Himachal Pradesh last in 2003 when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
