The Central Government has selected 3 cities from Punjab state in for digital payment promotion of ‘Lucky Grahak Yojana’ & Digi Dhan Vyapar. The center has selected Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar to promote digital payments in Punjab.
After a video conference with Union Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha and his counterparts in other state governments the Additional Chief Secretary Finance Satish Chandra said by disclosing this here today that the Centre has launched Lucky Grahak Yojana to encourage consumers and Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana to encourage merchants to the transition to digital payments.
Chandra added that the main motto of these schemes would be to bring the poor, lower middle class and small businesses into the digital payment fold.
He said that the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will be the implementing agency for these schemes.
These schemes will be started from December 25, 2016 (Christmas) and end on April 14, 2017 (Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti). These schemes have been launched by the Niti Aayog.
Under Lucky Grahak Yojana starting from Christmas Day, 15,000 Lucky Customer will be given a reward of Rs.1000 every day to the next 100 days. These rewards will be given on the behalf of NPCI National Commission of India.
Under DG Dhan Vyapari Yojana, the merchants will be given weekly rewards upto Rs.7000 and maximum rewards up to Rs.50,000.
Mega prizes for merchants would be of Rs 50 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 12 lakh for digital transactions between November 8, 2016 to April 13, 2017 and awards would be announced on April 14.
