Punjab One Rank Up Promotion Scheme – Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh launched ‘One Rank Up Promotion Scheme’ for Assured Career Progression. He said that after the implementation of this scheme, any employee posted in police will not be free from service before being promoted to ASI.
Punjab One Rank Up Promotion Scheme
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the fact that due to the stagnation in the rank of Head Constable and Non-Gazetted Officers in the police, the frustration is increasing in the Force because they are not getting promotions despite having too many vacancies and qualified police personnel. The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering group in the passing out parade of the constables who have been training in PRTC Jankhellan on Monday.
Assured Career Progression Scheme (ACP)
Formally implementing Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme, he has put a star on the shoulders of 14 new police officers promoted. Under the Assured Career Progression Scheme, the following pattern of promotion is provisioned –
- Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) from head constable after 16 years of job
- Sub Inspector (SI) from Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) after 24 Years of Job
- Inspector from Sub Inspector (SI) after 30 Years of Job
Stating that the training given to the recruitment personnel in the PRT is equal to the major institutions like the Indian Military Academy and the National Defense Academy, the Chief Minister has made a contribution of Rs.5 crore from the state budget for the upgradation of the existing training center. Apart from this, Chief Minister also made the announcement of 50 lakh rupees from his private funds for the welfare of police officers and their families.
