The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has made an announcement of Mill Worker Lottery 2019 for 8000 houses for the mill workers of the state. He announced that the Mill Worker Lottery 2019 will be launched in the next 15 days. CM Fadnavis announced it after the mill workers’ union met him with their long-pending demand. These new 8,000 houses are located in Navi Mumbai near Panvel.

Apart from this, CM also said that a plot has also been identified in Dombivli and it will be handed over to the housing authority MHADA for the construction of homes for the families of mill workers. The state government has seen the site and also given approval for it. The State government will give the land to MHADA for the construction of houses.
The State Government has also asked the MMRDA to divert houses in some of its projects in Thane and nearby areas to mill workers. There are about 12,000-15,000 workers who have received houses since 2012.
Out of the total workers, 8,900 have got houses on the spot where the mill existed after redevelopment. Besides this, the other workers had to move further north. The State Government
In year 2012, the Maharashtra government had decided to give homes to relatives of all the mill workers who had died during the Samyukta Maharashtra movement. But only 10 families have got homes under the scheme so far.
The Former Chief Minister Of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh in 2006 brought an amendment in the Development Control Regulation (DCR) rule allowing one-third of land reservation for mill workers’ houses on open mill land area.
