Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gujarat
On Friday, the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani implement the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gujarat at a function at Anand, starting with the distribution of approval letters and booklet of model designs to over 14,000 homeless family-beneficiaries in rural areas of five districts, namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Aravalli and Kheda districts.

The plan is to provide benefits to about 204,703 beneficiaries in the entire state, help them build their own house with 20 per cent subsidy to be directly deposited in their bank account in installments for the sake of transparency, in the process eliminating middlemen. The first installment is of Rs.40,000.
Speaking at the function, Rupani said that his government is committed to helping the homeless poor build their own houses, without discriminating between BPL and APL families – after a long time. It is part of the state government’s plan to provide ‘rotla, otla and makan’ to all.

The beneficiaries can build their houses anywhere they like; the quality of the construction has to be ensured by the beneficiary himself. He wished they gradually move up from a small house to big bungalows!
He listed the pro-poor schemes being implemented in the state, such as selling generic and other medicines at reduced prices from 175 Deendayal Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Stores, providing jobs to 10-lakh youth in private sector and through self-employment. He also paid tributes to illustrious sons of the soil, including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Vitthalbhai Patel and Tribhovandas Patel.
Rupani went round the theme exhibition of model houses. He was also felicitated by various social organizations of the district.
Education Minister in-charge Anand district Bhupendra Chudasma said that employment has been provided to 73,000 in government sector as against promise to 67,000.
Panchayat & Rural Development Minister Jayantibhai Kavadiya said that Rs.1,372-crore has been allocated in the Gujarat Budget for providing houses to the homeless under the Prime Minister Awas Yojna (Gramin), while rules have been changed for land settlement for the plots.
