The state government of Karnatak a is going to obtain the electric vehicles under the Central Government’s FAME-India scheme. Besides this, the state government is going to procure and ply 40 electric buses, 100 four wheelers and 500 three wheelers along with setting up of charging infrastructure throughout the city of Bengaluru.
The Karnataka government today said that it will get electric vehicles under the Center’s Fame-India plan. Under the scheme, subsidy on the purchase of electric trains is available.
State Industries Minister RV Deshpande said in the statement that Karnataka is preparing to set up the infrastructure for charging in Bengaluru with buying and running 40 electric buses, 100 four-wheelers and 500 tricycles.

Under Fame India Scheme, the Central Government provides 60 percent of the purchase cost for electric buses, 1.24 lakh rupees on every four-wheeler car and 61,000 rupees on every three-wheeler car. A subsidy is also provided for the installation of charging infrastructure.
Under this scheme, the state government has as provided a subsidy to an extent of 60% of the purchase cost for electric buses ie. a total amount of Rs 1.24 lakh for every Electric four wheeler and Rs 61,000 for every electric three-wheeler by the central government.
The main motive of the state government behind launching this policy including attracting investment of Rs 31,000 crore and creating employment opportunity to about 55,000 people both from supply and demand side.
Apart from this, Besides, it seeks to create a conducive environment for transition to electric vehicle environment from internal combustion engines and also to provide opportunities for developing R&D in electric mobility.
