Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced that residents of the state will not have to wait too much for life-saving surgery in government hospitals because they will be able to get it for free in private hospitals too. Kejriwal said that if a patient does not get the date of surgery within one month in the government hospital, then the hospital will refer him to the private hospitals. After that, the government will take full charge of it. The Aam Aadmi Party leader said, “We want to ensure that even if it is the financial condition of the people, they should get the best medical and education facilities.”
He said that this is the third such initiative launched by the Delhi Government. Prior to all the government hospitals, free medicines were given, then the main medical test facility was provided at the private diagnostic centers and now the free facility is being provided.
On being told by critics that money given to private hospitals should be used to improve the condition of government hospitals. The Chief Minister said that the amount of money they will be required to improve the condition of government hospitals will be provided.
In the presence of Chief Minister Kejriwal, Health Minister Satyendra Jain announced this in a program organized at the Talkatora Stadium. Jain said, “We are going to launch accident victims scheme where the victims of a fire, road accidents and acid attack will be provided free medical treatment in private hospitals of Delhi Government.” The minister did not give the details.
